Much Ado About Nothing Essay

This was an essay about the play “Much Ado About Nothing” by Shakespeare.

The film, “Much Ado About Nothing” by William Shakespeare is about a young girl, Hero and her relationship with Claudio, a soldier who was friends with her dad. It was love at first sight and they grew to love each other really quickly. However, because of a trick that was done by Don John, a person who liked to make trouble with other people, their relationship fell apart. Don John made Claudio believe that Hero was making out with someone else and was unfaithful to him, while in reality, it was someone else. Claudio believed it and publicly shamed Hero. Their relationship definitely fell apart and they never saw each other after that for a while. Later, Claudio learns that everything was a lie and Hero was innocent, and he quickly restored her honor publicly. In the end, all went well and the two of them got married.
The main relationship that was mentioned in the film is definitely between Claudio and Hero. It shows how much trust one puts into another person when they are in a relationship. Claudio publicly disgraced Hero because ultimately he felt betrayed by Hero and he let his feelings out into the public. He probably had some feelings of getting revenge on Hero for cheating on him. Because of that, it was important for him to restore Hero’s honor publicly because everything was a lie and he made the public believe in the lie. So he had to set everything back to what it was and make sure everyone knew that Hero is an innocent girl. Another possible reason Claudio did it was because he felt bad for her after everything he said. Small misunderstandings can lead to serious problems in relationships because when you are in a relationship, you put your trust in that person and trust that they won’t break it. So when the trust is broken even by the smallest misunderstanding, it leaves a scar in the heart and it is not something that can be easily repaired. A way to restore the relationship is to rebuild the trust that was between the two people. By restarting the relationship, the trust can be rebuilt and the relationship will be healthy.
An example in my life is my relationship with my best friend from elementary. We would always hang out with each other in school and out of school. However, there was one time where a misunderstanding led to a big change. It was the last year of elementary and my friend had been decided to go to another school. My teacher, knowing that we were good friends, asked me to write a farewell letter to my friend. Unfortunately, I never found the time to write it and ended up not writing it. My friend realized that I didn’t write a letter and got mad thinking that I didn’t care about him. This misunderstanding really hurt our relationship. After that incident, my relationship with him hasn’t been that good and I don’t even have his contacts on any social media. It would be nice if I could talk to him and fix our relationship by apologizing for not writing a letter but I don’t know if I will have the chance to.

Reflection:

I found the plot of the play really interesting. I struggled a bit trying to understand the English but other than that, I enjoyed reading it. This essay was based on what I understood about the book and how I related to it. I felt like I was really able to understand the book and was able to connect it to a specific event in my life that I find important.
